CRAFTSMANSHIP
The EDG Story
Founder Erik Glasius grew up by the waterways of Lake St. Clair in Algonac Michigan. It was here that he learned the restoration process for antique Chris Craft Wooden Boats. Working with multiple species of wood, mixing custom one of a kind stains, and developing a knack for hand applied clear coats became a regular affair. Erik finished restoration of a 1939 Chris Craft Utility Speed Boat when he was 16. So, in 1979 Erik decided to apply this knowledge when restoring his first set of drums, a Vintage Slingerland Kit which he still has today. The drum restoration process directly fueled the concept of custom drum making for Erik. Hence Edg Drumworks was born. Erik has been playing drums & percussion for more than 50 years. “I have the best gig in the house, I get to personally test each and every series of Edg Drumworks Custom Drums.” These drums are definitely road ready. Whether you like a specific type of wood, metal, or shell hardware, Edg Drumworks can make your dream set and snare come true. Many of the selections of shell wood are indigenous to Michigan where Edg Drumworks resides. Erik uses his hands-on experiences and knowledge from college degrees in Music Education, Music Performance, Audio Recording, and Management/Administration for every drum project he completes. Erik’s passion for custom drum building and restoration continue to grow each and every day. Attention to detail and overall performance are the highest priority.
